Child Safeguarding Policy

Carlie Coding (we, us) fully recognises its responsibilities for safeguarding children. This policy applies to all members, employees, tutors, teaching assistants, students, volunteers, staff, and anyone working on behalf of us. We reserve the right to modify, cancel or append to the terms of this child safeguarding policy for any reason at any point.

General

The primary aim of this policy is to protect children and young people who receive our services and to present the principles that guide our approach to child safeguarding. We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all students participating in our activities.

The welfare of children is paramount, and we work in partnership with children as well as their parents, carers and other agencies to promote young people’s welfare.

Procedures

We ensure that all our staff are suitable to carry out their jobs at Carlie Coding. Our procedures include identification verifications, Enhanced DBS checks for those aged 16 and over, staff training, and appropriate First Aid where possible.

Additionally, we seek to keep children and young people safe by:

  • Valuing them, listening to and respecting them,
  • Implementing an effective e‑safety policy,
  • Applying strict health and safety measures in accordance with laws and regulations,
  • Maintaining an anti-bullying environment and effectively dealing with any bullying,
  • Sharing concerns and relevant information with parents, families and carers appropriately,
  • Recording and storing all necessary information professionally and securely,
  • Taking any allegations against us seriously in accordance with our complaints management procedures.

Legal Framework

This policy has been drawn up on the basis of law and guidance that seeks to protect children, namely: Children Act 1989; United Convention of the Rights of the Child 1991; Data Protection Act 1998; Human Rights Act 1998; Sexual Offences Act 2003; Children Act 2004; Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006; Protection of Freedom Act 2012; Children and Families Act 2014; Special Educational needs and disability (SEND) code of practice HM Government 2014; Information sharing HM Government 2015; Working together to safeguard children HM Government 2015.

We continuously review our policies.
