A Typical Day At Camp

Mornings:

  • Drop-Off: Children are warmly welcomed and gathered for a morning meeting.
  • Group Assignments: Children are directed to their pre-arranged groups, organized by age.
  • First Session: First Session: Age-appropriate coding with Scratch or Scratch Jr. Based on the day’s theme, we design a game or animation. We also introduce digital art by exploring various Scratch extensions, allowing children to slowly discover this medium while creating striking visual projects. In all our camps, children are divided into at least two groups based on their age, and they progress with a coding program and robotics tools tailored to their group.
  • Second Session: We design and code a VR world, then experience it using our VR headsets.
  • Third Session: Robotics and Drone Time!
Lunch Break: We enjoy our nut-free lunches, and if the weather allows, spend some time on the playground. Additionally, there are 15-minute breaks between each session, during which children can have their snacks or enjoy the fruits we provide.

Afternoons:

  • We believe in balance and do not spend the entire day in front of screens. Our afternoons are mainly filled with screen-free activities.
    • First Session: Typically led by a specialist teacher, we engage in sport, art, or DIY craft enrichment activities, which vary from camp to camp (e.g., Fencing, Capoeira, Dance, and Drama). A single enrichment activity will run throughout the week, and the specific activity will be detailed in each camp’s announcement. On Friday afternoons, it’s party time! Children enjoy a movie suitable for their age, along with some tasty treats.
    • Second Session: After the first break, children engage in hands-on activities such as building with LEGO, 3D pen designs, jewelry making, drawing, or painting.
    • Relaxing Time: During the final session, children complete their projects, games, or LEGO creations. We come together to reflect on the day, give out small daily rewards, and prepare for home time.
    • Pick-Up.

Friday afternoons is party time! We’ll treat the children to a fun, age-appropriate animation, snacks, and a special closing celebration.

  • Please prepare a packed lunch for your child along with a water bottle and snacks. Our camps are nut-free, so no nuts or nut-based products (such as Nutella or pesto) should be included in the lunchbox.
  • To help us get to know your child better, please make sure to fill out the Carlie Coding Onboarding Form, which includes important details like health, allergies, age, etc. You’ll receive the form shortly after completing your child’s registration.
  • There may be other clubs or camps running at the schools where our camps are held. Please confirm with our staff at the door that your child has been handed over to Carlie Coding and ensure their name is on the attendance list.
Can I only book the camp for the entire week, or can I choose specific days?
Absolutely! You are not required to sign up for the whole week. You can register your child for the days that work best for you.
My child has never coded before. Is it still suitable for them to join this camp?
Definitely. Each child will work at a pace that suits their coding experience and skill level. If your child is a beginner, our instructors will offer extra support to help them get started. They won’t be the only one new to coding, and we’re confident they’ll quickly learn while having lots of fun with their campmates!
Will there be children of different age groups in the camp? Will my child be able to keep up with their own age group?
Yes, our camps include children of various ages and experience levels. However, we group children according to their age, so they will follow coding and robotics activities suited to their level. Plus, we carefully track their progress throughout the camp to ensure they’re thriving.
My child attends your camps regularly. Will they be learning the same things each time?
Not at all—there’s no need to worry! Coding and related tech subjects offer a wide variety of possibilities. Each camp has its own unique theme, such as Halloween or Christmas, and your child will work on different projects, games, animations, and digital art. With each camp, they’ll explore new aspects of coding and technology, so there’s always something fresh to learn.
Who makes up your team?
Our team consists of experienced adults, all of whom hold enhanced DBS checks and first-aid certifications. We always ensure we have enough qualified staff to match the number of students at our camp.
Will my child spend the entire day in front of a screen?
Not at all! While coding is a big part of the camp, we’re committed to screen breaks. Afternoons are filled with activities like art, sports, and craft sessions, as well as tech-free Lego and other hands-on projects.

Where can I find information about your cancellation and refund policy?
You can find all the details on our Terms and Conditions page.

OUR DIFFERENCE

Code the Future with Carlie Coding

At our camps, children take their first steps into the world of digital literacy through age-appropriate coding programs. We use platforms developed by institutions like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), such as Scratch and Scratch Jr., which provide children with a rich and expansive learning environment to help them develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

For older students, we sometimes integrate Minecraft and other coding programs into our curriculum. Through coding, children become familiar with key concepts like loops and conditionals while enhancing their design and spatial skills.

One of the most exciting experiences we offer is VR coding. Children design their own 3D worlds using VR-compatible software, then explore these worlds with VR headsets.

We also introduce children to AI through fun, hands-on projects. They explore the basics of artificial intelligence, learning about algorithms, machine learning, and data analysis, giving them a solid understanding of how AI impacts everyday life.

Our robotics sessions are tailored to various age groups. Younger children work with tools like Bee Bot and Botley to acquire coding and directional skills, while older groups engage with more advanced tools like Lego Robotics, mBot, and Micro:bit. This helps them improve their analytical and algorithmic thinking abilities.

In the afternoons, we shift to screen-free enrichment activities where children participate in arts, sports, or DIY activities like fencing, capoeira, drama, or crafts. Additional activities include 3D pen design and LEGO building time. We wrap up the week with a party on Friday, where children enjoy a movie and delicious snacks.
